The cost of healthcare is quickly becoming one of the most talked about problems in the country. The cost of health insurance in Texas has continued to increase just like in the rest of the country and many people wonder what they can do about it. There are some ways to get your rates down and keep health insurance more affordable for everybody.

One way to help decrease the cost of health care and keep health insurance in Texas more affordable is to only visit the emergency room for true emergencies. The cost of seeing a doctor in the emergency room is far more than an office visit at the doctor. People often visit the emergency room because they are open 24 hours a day and they don’t want to take the time out from their schedule to visit the doctor during business hours. This raises costs for everyone.

Other things that raise the cost of health care for everyone include substance abuse problems. People who use drugs or alcohol cause more accidents. They cause injuries to themselves and others with their impaired thinking and reactions and this is in addition to the damage the drugs and alcohol are doing to their bodies. Taking the steps to overcome the addiction to drugs, alcohol and even smoking can not only increase a person’s health and self esteem, but also brings down the cost of health insurance in Texas. This is why insurance companies are willing to pay for drug and alcohol treatment programs and smoking cessation medications and classes.

Another factor that influences the cost of health insurance in Texas is inflation. The cost of everything, including medical supplies goes up each year and this cost is reflected in higher doctors’ bills and then in higher insurance costs. Eliminating wastefulness can help bring the costs down.

One of the ways you can get cheaper health insurance in Texas is to shop around on the internet for the best price. Competition is known to bring prices down and as people exercise their right to shop for the best price, insurance companies will be forced to become more competitive.

You can also take steps to keep yourself healthier so you won’t need to go to the doctor as often. Eating a healthy diet, getting proper rest and exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can all help keep you healthier. You can also be on the lookout for free health screenings that may at least save you a co-pay if you already have health insurance in Texas.

Sometimes it works to your advantage to increase your deductible in order to reduce your premiums. This is a gamble if you should need a lot of care, but if you are healthy and don’t get into a serious accident you should come out ahead in the end. There are many ways to help bring the cost of health insurance in Texas down and with a little information and a strong desire you can attain this goal in the end.

Heading off soon, need a first aid kit and a small sewing kit, what should absolutely be in them?

Sewing kit: start with an empty dental floss box or an altoids box. Add: 2-3 embroidery needles (large eyes, easy to thread), a 4 to 6" piece of iron-on tricot interfacing like Fusiknit, preferably both black and white — this can be bonded with an iron to the inside of a tear or hole that develops. On folded paper or thin cardboard, wind about 15 ft of colors of thread that will go with the colors of clothes you’re taking with you. I usually carry black, white, red, and a medium grey that will blend with most medium colors. Add a few buttons of the size and color (roughly) used on the clothes you’re taking, a couple of tiny safety pins, a couple of medium safety pins, and a large safety pin and a wrapped single edge razor blade.

If you’re using an altoids box, you can usually get most of a first aid kit in there, too… a few bandaids, some Compeeds for blisters, a small tube of ointment like Neosporin or Bactine, and a couple of "wet" hand wipes like you’d get with a carryout restaurant meal. Toss in a small pair of tweezers. That’ll get you through most of it.

Also, if you’re using an altoids tin, slice down through about 3 layers of duct tape to make a patch of duct tape a little shorter than the size of the bottom of the tin. Stick the three layers of duct tape to the bottom of the tin — it’s emergency luggage hole repair, shoe repair, even first aid for a bad cut till you can get better materials.

In a separate container, like an old pill bottle or even tucked into the lining of another bag you’re carrying, toss in a few ibuprofen or whatever your favorite painkiller/headache remedy is (ibuprofen is more effective on muscle spasms and is a better anti-inflammatory than aspirin or tylenol/paracetamol, so that’s what I carry), and some of your favorite upset stomach/diarrhea remedy (I carry Peptobismol caplets or tablets). A few Benedryl (diphenhydramine) tablets can be useful for allergies or as a "sleeping pill" — but if you’ve not tried this medication before, try taking one on a night when you don’t have to get up the next morning — it leaves many people pretty groggy the next day.

Also carry a couple of clean bandannas or cotton scarves in your luggage, and one rolled around your first aid kit. Bandannas can be washcloths, towel substitute, halter top, sling, luggage id, pillowcase, handkerchieff, sleep mask, and a dozen other things. Lightweight, easy to wash by hand, usually dry overnight.

A housekeeper is an individual responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the interior of a residence. The term is almost exclusively applied to females; males are generally referred to as housecleaners, head of household staff, or, under the old British Imperial system as houseboys (regardless of age).

In the great houses of yesteryear the housekeeper could be a woman of considerable power in the domestic arena. The housekeeper of times past had her room or rooms cleaned by junior staff, her meals prepared and laundry taken care of, and with the butler presided over dinner in the Servants’ Hall. Unlike other servants, she was addressed as Mrs. Last Name.

Today’s head of household staff in a great house lives in much the same manner, although fewer households can afford large retinues of servants with an elaborate hierarchy. A housekeeper also supervises and coordinates activities of household employees in a private residence: Informs new employees of employer’s desires and gives instructions in work methods and routines. She assigns duties, such as cooking and serving meals, cleaning, washing, and ironing, adjusting work activities to accommodate family members. She also orders foodstuffs and cleaning supplies, keeps record of expenditures and may hire and discharge employees. Also works in residence employing a large staff.

The housekeeper is generally hired by and reports to the lady of the house. The extent to which the housekeeper supervises other staff varies from household to household. In general, the staff of a grand dwelling is divided into departments, with the housekeeper in charge of all the female staff with the possible exception of the kitchen staff, who report to the cook, and the between staff, who may report to the butler; in these cases the cook and butler reported directly to the lady of the house.

In other households, particularly those of the very wealthy who maintain several residences, the housekeeper is the ultimate head of household staff and may hire and fire junior staff, subject to the approval of the lady of the house, and make recommendations for senior staff. In this case, the cook and butler report to the lady of the house through the housekeeper.

Housekeepers also work in hotels and resorts. Their job description differs slightly from the traditional housekeeper. A Commercial housekeeper performs housekeeping duties, such as cleaning and stocking supplies in units when assigned. Maintains a high cleanliness standard for all resort rental units and provides top level customer service for guests.

FUNCTIONS:

Cleans guest rooms and stocks with appropriate supplies in the prescribed manner while following safety and security procedures and regulations, including but not limited to: Picks up and removes trash; Changes linen and makes bed(s); cleans entire bathroom; sweeps and dusts each unit; cleans the windows, balconies and porches.

Retrieves, stocks, restocks and stores the supplies according to current procedures.

Receives assigned section, keys, supplies and any priority room requests from the Executive Housekeeper. Turns in keys and unused supplies at the end of each shift. Checks with supervisor prior to clocking out at the end of each day.

May be required to clean carpets using equipment supplied by Lake Lure Golf & Beach Resort to maintain cleanliness standards of all floor coverings within the rental units and amenities.

Responds to guest requests and reports guest concerns in a timely and hospitable manner to ensure guest satisfaction.

Reports any missing articles, damages or mechanical problems to the Executive Housekeeper and turns in any articles left in each unit.

Coordinates with the Executive Housekeeper relating to work priorities and provides assistance when/where needed.

Check amenities buildings (i.e., restaurants, pro shops, recreation and public areas) to insure that they meet cleanliness standards are cleaned and properly stocked.

Performs other related duties as directed by the Executive Housekeeper.

The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:

Sweeps, dusts, mops, scrubs, washes, vacuums, waxes, and polishes building floors, walls, woodwork, windows, furniture, equipment, and hardware.

Cleans and sanitizes laboratories, washrooms, and bedrooms, keeps washrooms supplied with paper, towels, and soap.

Observes and reports safety violations; actively participates in emergency situations.

Assists in training and continued education of lower level workers.

Plans, assigns, and supervises all functions of a housekeeping department.

Skill is required to operate custodial equipment.

What should I look for when hiring a maid or housekeeper?

Hiring a maid is a serious responsibility. Allowing someone into your home and to come into contact with your belongings should require a substantial amount of research in finding the right person for the job. The following are few tips to keep in mind during the hiring process.

Insurance: Many maids and housekeepers work through a service company that hires employees to work under the name of that company. Should you use such a service, make sure the company is insured to cover accidents in the workplace-your home.

Ask For References: Before even considering hiring a maid from a company, seek out those who have worked with them before. Was their experience a good one? Always ask the housekeeping service company for references before hiring them.

Employment Screening: Be sure to find out whether or not each of the maids or housekeepers are screened before hired to the company. Does the service company confirm their references and verify they are residents? These are very important items to take into consideration before hiring a maid.

Contract: Who will provide the cleaning supplies, the maid company or you? What happens if you are not satisfied with the job done in your home? What happens if items are damaged in your home while the maid is working? These are questions that need to be answered and answered to the customer’s satisfaction in a written contract signed by both you and the housekeeping company.

How much would it cost to utilize maid or housekeeping services on a regular basis?
Many maid and housekeeping service companies charge by the week and by the size of your living space. Small apartments often cost $40 a week, while a large home could cost $60 a week. These prices fluctuate on the type of home as well as if there are any special problem areas that need to be cleaned.

Biking is gaining popularity in the Philippines. More bikers are hitting the streets, forming organizations, and taking long biking trips. No matter the country, however, seeing free-wheeling bikers enjoying the wind blowing through their hair can evoke feelings of freedom, fun, and excitement. Whether you are into bikes and biking as a sport, as a profession, for exercise, for recreation, or for just plain fun, it is important to be responsible while biking, to ensure your safety and comfort. This article will cover some helpful information on purchasing a bike such as its types (mountain bike, road bike, hybrid bike, etc.), bike safety, and responsible biking.

Bike purchasing tips

Before setting out for the closest bike shop, it is important to know what kinds of bikes are out there and how to find the right one for you. There are basically three kinds of bikes for consumers to choose from. First is the road bike, which is designed for good traction and speed on paved streets. The road bike usually has a thin and lite frame that makes it ideal for rides that are long and fast. Second is the mountain bike. Mountain bikes are normally larger and chunkier than road bikes, since mountain bikes have to withstand the wear and tear of riding on bumpy, uneven surfaces. Mountain bikes usually have extra features such as shock absorbers, wide tires, and straight handlebars. The third kind of bike commonly used by cyclists is the hybrid bike. The hybrid normally has a lite frame, an upright seat, straight handlebars, and skinny tires, making it ideal for city-riding.

The next concern when purchasing a bike would be the rider’s comfort. To have a comfortable and safe ride, those purchasing a bike should be sure to get the right-sized frame for their body. Since each person has unique dimensions with regards to height, leg length, and arm length, there is no one-size-fits-all kind of bike. When purchasing bikes, spend time at the shop and get assistance from the salespeople. Ask which frame would suit your size best and try out various frames to see which is most comfortable. For even more comfort and safety, adjust the handlebars and seat position to ensure comfort, proper posture, and maneuverability.

Bike safety tips

Anyone who has a bike should know how to operate it and keep it well-maintained to ensure the rider’s safety. Bike instruction manuals provide helpful information on how to change, adjust, remove, and even assemble different parts of the bike. Aside from understanding how to adjust and fix the bike itself, it is also important for bike owners to know how to fix flat tires and change the chain. Another helpful safety tip is to do a three-point check before every ride:

1. Check the tires and breaks – Make sure that the tires are properly inflated and that all of the breaks are in proper working order.
2. Check the chain and gears – Ensure that the chain is properly seated on the gears and that no slipping occurs when changing between gears.
3. Check the bike frame, seat, and handlebars – Be sure that the frame is in good condition and that the seat and handlebars are adjusted to the rider’s comfort and that all parts are fastened tightly.

Responsible biking

Anyone who is thinking of biking regularly, especially those who live in the city, should be aware of their responsibilities as bikers. Bikers should be aware of all the rules, regulations, and policies that govern biking and the streets in general. Follow bike lanes, sidewalks, and bike paths as much as possible and try not to ride on the portions of the street designated for motor vehicles. Biking with a group or a parter also helps in being responsible and safe when biking. Finally, be sure to bring any important gear that may be needed along the trip or in case of emergency such as water, cell phone, extra tire tubes, patching kits, a little money, and a form of identification.

Financial Aid is a wonderful program to help with the cost of college. It is a program that helps to supplement the cost of education and offers opportunities to those who otherwise may not have the means to further their education.

The first step to receiving financial aid is to filling out the free application for federal student aid. This is the agency that determines what the family contribution should be. The difference between the cost of attendance and expected contribution for a student, determines how much funds should be awarded based on need. There are some programs that are based on merit or are non-need based and can replace expected contributions from a family source.

By applying early, several funding sources for assistance can be considered. An eligible student with demonstrated need should not be denied the opportunity to attend college. Though the maze of financial aid can be intimidating, if it is taken on a step at a time it’s as easy as drawing a line from A to B.

Begin by determining your eligibility to participate in federal, state and local financial aid assistance. Once you have determined that you are a good candidate for eligibility, apply for and receive your financial aid. After your initial application for Federal Student Aid, the remainder of the process should be completed at your prospective college or university. The Financial Aid office can be very helpful with this process.

To ensure your success, plan a college education budget. Understand the policies and procedures that will affect your financial aid experience; and if a student loan is part of your budget be sure you understand all the repayment options. Another important financial aid opportunity that you can’t afford to overlook is the work-study program. Often you will be given a part time job within your college or university to help you with expenses. With proper planning, nearly anyone can obtain a good education.

I’ve been working in a public school classroom in California and have noticed that their first aid kit is not stocked very well (basically has a few band aids, alcohol wipes and a few gloves). I’ve been looking online to see if I could find what the requirements are as far as first aid kits in classrooms. Or, are they fine as long as the supplies are in the office?

Check with the schools administrator, coordinator, or nurse. California doesn’t have a set standard for first aid kits.

Some people have trouble deciding between vertical blinds and shades. It can be a tough decision and many of just do not know where to start with our interior decorating plans. The best recommendation that can be made is to start at the window and to work your way around the room. Make the window the focal point of what you want to do. Start there and work your way out. This is your true source for natural light and will be where everyone is drawn to anyways. Look into what you can use and what the different things are that you can do to play off of the window treatment that you decide on. Use all aspects of the room and a variety of different things to make it all come together. It seems to be best to start with a specific theme or plan that you want to meet or achieve. Then put everything together to make it happen. Remember though that you need to start with your window treatment first as this is where everyone will be drawn.

Consider your different selections to use in the window treatments. Look into shades or blinds, possibly curtains or a valence. You may even decide to use a combination of any of these things to make it all come together. Try to be creative but keep in mind your budget as well as your goals so as to make it a success. Find something that all of the aspects of your room design will be able to somehow connect to. You are looking for harmony and flow in the room to create continuity and make the visitors feel comfortable while they are in the room.

Your next challenge will be to determine how far it is that you wan to go with this. Do you only want to do one room or are you looking to remake your entire house. Determine if you are doing your entire home if you want separate themes for each room or if you want all of the rooms to have continuity. It is up to you. Do you want to show a different side of you or whoever lives in each room or are you looking for uniformity. Make a decision and then make a budget. Make sure what you do is affordable and makes sense. Also, do not forget that this is your vision so be sure to see it through and do what you really want.

A recommended first aid kit for a horse includes:
elastic pressure bandages, cotton padding, gauze pads, a liquid would cleanser, antibiotic ointment, a drawing salve, and scissors.

Could someone please explain how to use each individual item in this, or if you have a different first aid kit you use, could you tell me what sort of stuff is in your first aid kit, and how you use it?

The pressure bandages and cotton padding go together. If a horse is wounded on the lower part of their leg, or if they get a tendon injury your vet may suggest wrapping it. The cotton gets wrapped loosely around the leg and the elastic pressure bandage is wrapped firmly (but not tightly) around the padding. The best thing you can do is to get a friend or trainer to show you how to wrap a horse’s leg before you ever NEED to. Bandaging can lead to more problems if it isn’t done properly. The scissors are sometimes necessary to cut the bandages off, especially if you’re using disposable bandages (such as vetrap).

A "liquid cleanser" refers to something like Betadine or a similar antibiotic that is used to rinse out a wound. Antibiotic ointment and gauze pads are self explanatory. . . I think the "drawing salve" refers to a poultice. It is a clay-like substance that can be smeared on a swollen limb or joint. You then wrap the poultice in damp paper and bandage over it. The poultice helps to "draw out" and reduce the swelling.

You should also have a thermometer (and vasoline to lubricate the thermometer) and epson salts (used to draw out an abcess when mixed with water).

I’ve owned horses for nearly 15 years and these are the items that I have and use. You can get other items, but I don’t think you’ll need them (or at least need them before they expire – it’s better to get anything else as it becomes necessary)

Availing your business of custom poster printing services will benefit not only your marketing schemes but also you workplace’s atmosphere. What will you do with a booming biz that isn’t reflecting with how your office looks like?

Your employees’ attitude definitely matters. As the business owner, you must not only think about increasing your profit all the time. You must also think of ways to motivate your people to do better and to give their tasks their best shots at all times.

How can you do such thing with plain and boring surrounding? These are only some of the elements that you should avoid to help create an ambience that emulates happiness and excitement within your workforce.

•	White paint. If you own a hospital or worse, a mental facility, this might be applicable. But you don’t want your people to feel like they are being treated for mental retardation every time they walk into your office. White can be classy but for a workplace, this definitely does not create the right mood.

•	Outdated computers. In today’s ever evolving technology, the cost of PC’s isn’t that much. You must give your employees what they need to be able to do their work fast and efficiently.

•	Bad lighting condition. Imagine a white surrounding with an all too bright lights in a workplace. You really are driving your employees insane this way. You must get them health cards fast.

Again, the list above is only some that should be avoided in helping boost up your people’s stamina to work for you.

Outdated computers can easily be worked on. You just have to shell out some bucks to be able to buy new ones or replace the old parts. The lighting condition can be resolved through filters or by completely changing the whole thing.

If you can’t afford to have your workplace repainted, custom poster printing will cost less and can help in changing the ambience of the place.

•	You can suit the design according to what your business is all about. This way, it will not only benefit your people but also others who will visit your place to transact business with you. Such posters can serve as your marketing tools while adding to the place’s design.

•	Hang motivational posters for your employees’ benefit. The posters can still contain the elegance that you want for your place while adding life into it. If you want work done, you must act in providing the place where people will be excited to come to every working day.

•	Artistic posters can also help to add appeal to the place.

The list is endless. All you need is a little imagination and the funds that can be allotted into this small time makeover project.

Before thinking about the big bucks to come in, provide tools and corresponding budget to aim for your employees to keep thinking positive. Custom poster printing may do the trick. As the business owner, you must first have happy people working for you before you can reach out to potential clients claiming that you can make them happy.
